Founder and Director
Maya Gurry is the founder of Fresh PR & Marketing, a leading communications consultancy based on the Sunshine Coast.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Maya has built a reputation as a results-driven PR strategist, known for her sharp mind, deep understanding of the media and a knack for turning complex ideas into stories that stick.
Before launching Fresh in 2004, Maya gained international experience through in-house roles with Volkswagen of South Africa, Marks & Spencer and Trustmarque International in the UK. This experience gave her a global lens and a strong foundation in corporate communications – tools she now uses to guide Fresh’s metro and regional clients across Australia.
Maya has a keen understanding of how best to work with in-house teams to provide the support required, while always operating within corporate guidelines and respecting brand principles. Having managed consultancies in the past she understands better than anyone how valuable it is to have an external perspective on industry trends and PR opportunities.
Her extensive media network, understanding of the 24-hour news cycle and ability to deliver stories that are interesting, relevant, original and above all ‘fresh’, see her get exceptional results for her clients. Maya also doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff like crisis and issues management, in fact, she thrives on it.
Under her leadership, Fresh PR & Marketing has grown into an award-winning agency with a loyal client base including, amongst others, Stockland, McNab, the Queensland Garden Show, Unitywater, Travis Schultz & Partners and the Sunshine Coast Business Council. Whether navigating media landscapes, leading crisis communications or shaping long-term strategy, Maya brings energy, clarity and results.
Maya is a former Chair and current Board Member of the Sunshine Coast Major Events Board which advises Sunshine Coast Council on attracting major events to drive economic growth in the region. She has also taken on voluntary roles with local charities like Wishlist.
