Maya Gurry

Director

Our founding member of Fresh and resident PR gun is the ultimate professional and has earned a reputation for delivering outstanding results for her clients each and every time.

Bringing international in-house public relations experience from Volkswagen in South Africa; and Marks & Spencer and Trustmarque International in the UK, Maya has a keen understanding of how best to work with in-house teams to provide the support required, while always operating within corporate guidelines and respecting brand principles.

Having managed consultancies in the past she understands better than anyone how valuable it is to have an external perspective on industry trends and PR opportunities. This, combined with her extensive hands-on consultancy experience since establishing Fresh in 2004, has given her a valuable skillset equally transferable across metro and regional markets.

Her strategic approach has seen the award-winning consultancy grow from strength to strength delivering marketing and PR campaigns for a diverse range of clients across a number of industries.

Maya has become a valuable advisor to many long-term clients including Sunshine Plaza, the Queensland Garden Expo, McNab, the Sunshine Coast Business Council, Unitywater and charities such as Wishlist.

Her extensive media network, understanding of the 24-hour news cycle and ability to deliver stories that are interesting, relevant, original and above all ‘fresh’, see her get exceptional results for her clients.

Maya is a former Chair of the Sunshine Coast Major Events Board, that advises Sunshine Coast Council in regards to attracting major events as a mechanism for economic growth in the region and still sits on the Working Group.

She loves a good spreadsheet when planning her own events to the nth degree, and doesn’t run away from the hard stuff like crisis and issues management – in fact she kind of loves it!

Maya is our chameleon ― she’s agile, thinks on her feet, quickly adapts to new environments and has 360-degree vision — a great skillset!
