RCQ Construction to deliver $104 million in projects in NQ

September 30, 2013

North Queensland’s real estate market is hotting up, as RCQ Construction and Honeycombes Property Group join forces to deliver over $104 million worth of projects across both Townsville and Mackay.

RCQ Construction General Manager Steve Cole said the contracts further cemented the firm’s presence in North Queensland, following the recent launch of a new office in Mackay.

“We’re thrilled to be taking on even more local projects and playing a larger role in shaping the Mackay and Townsville skylines,” Mr Cole said.

“The Mackay and Townsville areas have become like a second home to us over the past few years; we’ve been involved with the refurbishment of the Metropole Hotel and Hotel M, as well as the construction of various residential developments including Holborn Apartments in Townsville and Fusion and Rivage in Mackay.”

Mr Cole said the new construction contracts included the Central Village precinct and Piccadilly 1 residential apartments in Townsville CBD, Jacana 2 on the river at Riverway in Townsville, as well as the Pacific Sands and Carlyle Apartments residential projects in Mackay.

“Central Village in particular is sure to attract strong interest from the local community as it is set to become the new heart and soul of the Townsville CBD,” Mr Cole said.

“Once completed, the village will incorporate boutique retail space, sidewalk cafes and open-air dining with well-known brands including Hogs Breath Café and Max Brenner.”

“A new 780-seat Birch Carroll and Coyle cinema will also revitalise the area, with the project due for completion in mid-2014.”

Between the five newly-acquired projects, RCQ Construction will deliver more than 200 residential apartments for Honeycombes over the next 14 months, with construction now imminent on the two Mackay developments.

“We’re renowned in the construction industry for our expertise in building residential developments, so it will be great to demonstrate our skills in this area, as well as in constructing the specialty retail space,” Mr Cole said.

Honeycombes Property Group Managing Director Peter Honeycombe said he looked forward to working with RCQ Construction and seeing each of the developments come to life.

“RCQ Construction has a great reputation and impressive track record, and we know they can complete these projects on time and to the high standard that people have come to expect from our developments,” Mr Honeycombe said.
