Maroochydore ranking high on renters’ wish list
April 30, 2013
With the $350 million Sunshine Plaza expansion having recently been approved, the $20 million Big Top Market Fresh upgrade just announced and the Maroochydore CBD set to grow even further in line with Sunshine Coast Council’s Principal Activity Centre Structure Plan, it’s no surprise local renters are marking Maroochydore as their suburb of choice.
Director of The Lancaster Group and On-site Rental Manager at Emporio, Jim Lancaster, said recent announcements related to Maroochydore’s growth had certainly seen an increased demand for rental properties in the area, with low vacancy rates the norm and more than 20 prospective renters enquiring about tenancies at Emporio each week.
“As the momentum of the CBD builds and the future of Maroochydore starts to take shape, renters are keen to secure a place, especially the younger demographic who are keen to be located right in the heart of the action,” Mr Lancaster said.
“There are now plenty of cafés, shops and entertainment venues in the area, so it’s no surprise that Coast residents want to be located within easy walking distance of these amenities.”
“At present, all of the apartments we manage are occupied, and we’re finding that tenants like the area and lifestyle so much they are choosing to renew their leases.”
Maroochydore CBD resident and Hall Contracting employee Tara Williams said she and her partner Chris had recently made the move to Maroochydore and were now renting a new two-bedroom apartment at Emporio.
“What appealed to us most was the close proximity to work, shops and restaurants; it’s so good to be able to pop downstairs and grab a coffee, take a quick walk to the supermarket or head out for dinner,” Ms Williams said.
“We feel like we’re getting in at a great time as things are only going to get better. I can’t wait for the new section of Sunshine Plaza to open and it will be really exciting to see council unveil more parks and the planned public amphitheatre down the track.”
“The Coast has been missing a vibrant CBD area, so I’m sure those looking to rent on the Coast will be attracted to what’s planned for Maroochydore over the coming years.”
Ms Williams said the location worked particularly well for her and her partner, with Chris working away in the mines and flying in and out of the Sunshine Coast on a regular basis.
“We find it really convenient that the airport is less than 10 minutes away,” Ms Williams said.
Ms Williams said she and Chris were enjoying making use of the resident facilities at Emporio, including the on-site gym, resident theatre and rooftop leisure deck.
“We really feel like we have access to everything we need within walking distance and we’re excited about being part of the journey as the Maroochydore CBD develops.”
“It’s also great having the beach just a short drive away; everything is virtually on your door step.”
