Local company to launch new Sippy Downs development
June 3, 2014
Having completed development of The Parks last year — the final stage of their master-planned Chancellor Village Precinct — local company Reed Property Group is continuing its involvement with Sippy Downs and is busily preparing to launch their brand new boutique subdivision, Flame Tree Pocket, in the coming weeks.
Reed Property Group Managing Director Ken Reed said he was thrilled to be continuing the company’s connection to Sippy Downs, with the new development set to incorporate 160 residential lots on completion.
“It’s really exciting to watch the project get off the ground; years of planning and stakeholder engagement have gone into this development and it’s great to be a part of another significant milestone for the Sippy Downs community,” Mr Reed said.
“We’re looking forward to releasing Stage One to the community in the very near future.”
Stage One of Flame Tree Pocket includes 44 lots and is located on the corner of University Way and Red Cedar Street (off Claymore Road), providing easy access to local schools, shops and transport links, as well as the University of the Sunshine Coast and the many nearby Sunshine Coast beaches.
Mr Reed said the new development was somewhat of a nature hub, with a revegetation, habitat and nature corridor bordering Sippy Creek to the south and the Mooloolah River Section of the giant Mooloolah River National Park to the north east.
Mr Reed said the place name had been inspired by the development’s surrounding environment, having been named after the iconic Illawarra Flame Tree (Flame Kurrajong), which flowers locally and is known for its bright red bell-shaped flowers.
“We really needed to ensure the place name resonated with both Sunshine Coast locals and the eventual residents of the Flame Tree Pocket community. The name needed to reflect the natural surroundings,” Mr Reed said.
“After all, the land has a long history; it has been owned by Sunshine Coast local and farmer Peter Crosby since 1964, who has strong roots in the area and whose family ‘Crosby Hill Road’ is named after.”
“Mr Crosby has been operating a cattle farm on the land, and a cane farm in previous decades. Since acquiring control of the property we’ve worked alongside Mr Crosby to design a vibrant residential precinct, so that he hands this long-held parcel over to a new community who we hope will feel as passionate about this land as he has.
The new development will offer various allotment sizes, with vacant land starting from $155,000 and house and land packages priced from $320,000.
