Stockland B by Halcyon, a lifestyle community designed for over 50s located on the Sunshine Coast, has been awarded for Excellence in Seniors’ Living, at the 2023 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Queensland awards, held at Brisbane City Hall on 3 November 2023.

Located in the foothills of Buderim, B by Halcyon spans 25 hectares and is surrounded by trees, with homeowners enjoying six hectares of private open space; a lifestyle, wellness, and recreational precinct, which includes a club and bar; and an outdoor resort-style pool and spa.

Stockland Halcyon Regional Project Director, Chris Carley, said it was an honour for B by Halcyon to be recognised for this prestigious award by the industry.

“Staying true to Buderim’s spirit, B by Halcyon has a community atmosphere, with carefully designed spaces that enhance the unique environment to create a rich and rewarding lifestyle for our homeowners,” Mr Carley said.

“Sustainability was a key focus in the design of B By Halcyon, with a vision to create one of our most sustainable communities yet. Each single-level home in the community has a superior energy rating and comes standard with solar power, which can help many homeowners save money on their energy bills.”

The community also has Tesla Powerwall batteries to power common facilities, a Tesla shared vehicle, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Mr Carley said Stockland Halcyon communities help to change the way older Australians embrace life, and Stockland’s transparent ownership model means there are no deferred management payments or exit fees payable when you leave the community.

“B by Halcyon had strong market response when it launched in February 2020 and is now 90 per cent sold with just 31 homes remaining,” Mr Carley added.

The annual UDIA Queensland Awards for Excellence honour the highest achievers across all sectors of the development industry with winners eligible to contest the national awards.

Entrants in the Seniors’ Living category were judged on a number of factors including environmental consideration, design innovation, sales results, commitment to the broader community as well as meeting the specific needs of retirement-age homeowners.

This announcement adds to the 32 industry awards Stockland Halcyon communities have accumulated over the years.
