Classical Cupcakes 2 concert

August 8, 2011

Music lovers are in for a treat when the Sunshine Coast Concert Band presents a “Classical Cupcakes 2” concert at St Mark’s Anglican Church in Buderim on Sunday, August 21.

The Sovereign Order of St John of Jerusalem has organised this concert to raise funds for the “Hear and Say” Centre in Nambour and as the name of the concert suggests a second helping of a delicious home-made afternoon tea of cupcakes will be served to those who attend.

Under the baton of Music Director Ken Chadwick OAM, the band of approximately 40 professional and amateur players will provide two hours of entertainment playing tunes by Rimsky Korsakov, Mascagni, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Grainger, Rossini and Offenbach.

Of special appeal will be Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto featuring the superb playing of maestro, Charlie Simm as well as the Leroy Anderson “Bugler’s Holiday” which will be played at an incredibly fast pace by the Wynyard family of Todd, Angelique and their 14-year-old son, Josh.

Singers Bev Gourlay and Aart Schouten will add to the classical themes with songs such as “Bless This House” and “The Holy City” as well as “My Heart Will Go On” (Titanic theme) , “Stranger in Paradise” (from Kismet) and John Denver’s “Perhaps Love”.

This is an exciting program and should not be missed! Since seats are limited, tickets for $15 can be pre-booked at 104.9 Sunshine Radio on 5450 1049 and collected at the door. If seats are still available on the day, they will be $20 or $15 concession, at the door. The concert starts at 2pm at the St Mark’s Anglican Church in Main Street, Buderim.

Ends.
