2014 Wishlist Spring Carnival
At Fresh, we’re big believers in giving back to the local community and rolling up our sleeves for a good cause. It’s for this reason that we continue to donate our time to work with a range of charities and community groups each year.
One such group is Wishlist, a Sunshine Coast-based charity which raises money to support local public health services. As one of the most popular events on the Sunshine Coast social calendar, the annual Wishlist Spring Carnival Lunch consistently attracts a sell-out crowd of more than 560 each September.
Fresh Director Maya Gurry is an integral member of the organising committee for this event, and works closely with the other committee members, media and celebrities involved to successfully promote and build excitement around the lunch.
This year, Maya drafted media releases and coordinated media interviews with entertainer and former Australian Idol finalist Rob Mills, as well as Sunrise presenters Mark Beretta and Natalie Barr. The event featured in various local print, radio, TV and online media platforms, as well as on national breakfast program Sunrise.
The 2014 Wishlist Spring Carnival Lunch raised a record amount of more than $160,000, prompting the purchase of an Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) for the Sunshine Coast’s Gastroenterology Service. The new equipment will help to determine the stage of gastrointestinal malignancies and consequently, assist in delivering a more effective treatment plan for local cancer patients.
