Wishlist lunch the place to be next Friday

September 8, 2011

The countdown is on for this year’s Wishlist Spring Carnival lunch with over 550 of the Coast’s most high profile business people getting together to raise funds for a good cause with the help of Samantha Armytage and Damien Leith.

The lunch which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Coolum on Friday, September 16 will raise funds for the support programs offered by the Sunshine Coast Koping Network (SCKoping).

Wishlist Manager, Lisa Rowe says the event is a calendar highlight for Wishlist with a cause that delivers fantastic results for Sunshine Coast children who are affected by a parent or sibling who has a mental health or drug and alcohol condition.

“The camps see children aged between 9 to 18 years enjoy a respite from their daily circumstances which are often very confronting and all-consuming. They provide a strong therapeutic component to help develop the children’s coping skills and resilience and the feedback we have had has really been excellent,” said Lisa.

“This lunch changes little lives. Last year we raised over $114K which saw us launch the incredible paediatric ward in the Nambour General Hospital emergency ward and this year we’re setting our target at over $120K which will fund the SCKoping program camps for the next five years.”

The high profile event will be hosted by Samantha from Seven’s Weekend Sunrise along with local radio jock, Todd Widdicombe while Damien promises to keep guests entertained with the sounds that saw his new album, ‘Roy – A Tribute to Roy Orbison’ hold the top of the ARIA charts for the 12 weeks after its release.

Coastline BMW has been the major sponsor of the event since its inception and General Manager, Tristan Kurtz said the event truly shows the generosity of spirit on the Coast.

“We are delighted to be on board with one of the most well-supported charity events on the Coast and highly commend Wishlist for the wonderful work they do on a daily basis,” said Tristan.

Organisers are expecting guests to turn out in their finest with the popular Fashions on the Fields being awarded for the best dressed male and female in line with the racing theme. Winners will each take home an impressive T.W. Steel watch valued at over $850 and kindly donated by Oro Diamonds and Gold.

The event will see 12 major auction items each valued in excess of $5,000 and over 80 silent auction items under the hammer. Major auction items include the popular ‘Live Like a Millionaire’ experience with seven nights for eight people at a million dollar beach house in Northern New South Wales which was purchased by Jennifer Hawkins last year, four tickets to the BMW Caulfield Cup in mid-October including airfares and BMW hospitality, seven nights at the ultra-luxurious Sea Temple in Port Douglas donated by Juniper and media packages from the Sunshine Coast Daily and Hot 91.1.

“We really couldn’t have achieved this without the wonderful support of Travis Schultz and the committee who work very hard behind the scenes to make this event happen,” said Lisa.

“For us to achieve such great outcomes for children on the Sunshine Coast we depend entirely on the generous support of those who donate their time, sponsor our events and provide auction items and I’d like to personally thank everyone who has come on board.”
