The Sunshine Coast Business Council has announced that Walker Corporation Development Manager Kelli Thomas will join the advocacy group’s board following its AGM held in Marcoola yesterday.

Re-elected Sunshine Coast Business Council Chair Sandy Zubrinich said she was delighted to welcome Ms Thomas to the board as a key player in Walker Corporation’s Queensland development team, which has $10 billion project pipeline.

“Walker Corporation is undoubtedly one of the most influential players in our region given its $2.5 billion investment in the Maroochydore City Centre, and we welcome Kelli’s insight into the impact of this game-changer project as well as her wealth of previous experience,” Ms Zubrinich said.

“Kelli’s current role of developing strategy and leading complex assessment and approval processes for large scale master-planned development projects for Walker will be of great value as part of our board discussions and in the advocacy role we play.”

The only other change to the board is the stepping down of Nicola Scott from Master Builders.

“Of course, Master Builders will continue to be an influential member of the Sunshine Coast Business Council and we thank Nicola for her contribution to the board over the past 12 months and look forward in continuing to work with her as a member,” Ms Zubrinich said.

“There are exciting times ahead for our region, particularly as we focus on preparing for the 2032 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. A decade sounds like a long time but in reality time is ticking for us to attract funding and investment to guarantee significant improvement to the road, rail and air transport systems and sporting facilities, ensuring the experience for tourists, athletes, and residents is exceptional.

The Sunshine Coast Business Council Board now includes:

  • Sandy Zubrinich, Zubek — Chair
  • Bridget Murphy, former Fujitsu Australia Limited — Board Member and Treasurer
