UDIA Golf Day a hole-in-one for charity
June 21, 2016
Over 100 Sunshine Coast business people took advantage of a break in the wet weather to enjoy a round of golf and raise funds for local charity SunnyKids at the UDIA Sunshine Coast Branch Annual Golf Day at Pelican Waters Golf Club on Friday, 17 June.
The annual event has become a firm favourite on the Sunshine Coast events calendar with both avid golfers and amateurs taking to the greens to enjoy some friendly competition.
This year the first hole was sponsored by Emporio, Reed Property Group’s Maroochydore mixed-use development, which offered golfers the opportunity to have their first shot of the day taken by a pro in exchange for a donation to local charity SunnyKids.
Reed Property Group CEO said players really got into the swing of things with a grand total of $1,550 being raised on the day thanks to the generous support of those participating in the day.
“Many then paid for further shots to be taken which really increased the total we were able to raise so I’d like to thank the players for getting into the spirit of things and helping us support a good cause,” said Mr Emmerton.
“This year the Reed team identified SunnyKids and The Pyjama Foundation as our focus charities for 2016. Both organisations aim to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children.”
“We are proud to be SunnyKids ‘P100’ members, contributing ongoing funds to support the organisation’s operational costs. We have also supported its annual ‘Adopt a Family’ Christmas appeal, as well as the ‘It Takes a Village’ sponsorship program.”
“We don’t underestimate how important it is for local businesses to get behind the charities that focus on those having tough times here on the Coast and we commend SunnyKids for the great work they do.”
