Trade Secret store attracts almost 6,000 customers on opening day

April 12, 2013

There were celebrations in Maroochydore yesterday when Trade Secret opened its second Sunshine Coast store with close to 6,000 excited shoppers coming to experience the new store for themselves.

The store, located in the Sunshine Homemaker Centre near Bunnings on Maroochydore Road, is tipped to follow in the footsteps of the Kawana store which is the retailer’s number one store in Australia.

Trade Secret’s General Manager, Richard Gazal said the team had been working hard to select a product offering that would continue make the store a favourite with locals.

“Sunshine Coast shoppers are clearly savvy and smart when it comes to finding high quality brands at affordable prices and we are excited to be doubling our efforts in the area to give those living in the northern half of the Coast better access to great prices on big brand fashion and homewares,” Mr Gazal said.

“Kawana is our number one store nationwide which demonstrates that Coast shoppers clearly know good value when they see it. Our increased commitment to the area will also bring our local employment figures up to over 75 jobs across the two stores and we’re delighted to support a community which has been so supportive of us.”

“Hundreds of customers attended the opening yesterday to take advantage of great offers, the opportunity to win $2,000 in cash and our kid’s activities and free styling sessions. Celebrations will continue over the weekend and we’re delighted with the support so far.”

Sunshine Coast Council’s Economic Development portfolio holder, Councillor Stephen Robinson who will officially open the store, believes the Coast has become an attractive option for national brands thanks to the significant investment in infrastructure and anticipated job creation in the region in the coming years.

“We are delighted to celebrate the opening of another Trade Secret store on the Coast and believe this display of confidence is well-warranted given where our region is heading,” Cr Robinson said.

“Our commitment to turning Maroochydore into one of the most functional and commercially competitive regional cities in Australia will continue to attract high profile brands like Trade Secret and the proven popularity of their Kawana store is sure to be replicated in our emerging CBD.”

The store opening was the start of a four-day celebration with lots of spot prizes and gives-aways and kids’ activities including face painting, a magician and the chance to meet ‘Starman’ from the Starlight Foundation, for which Trade Secret has raised over $300,000 in the past four years.

“Our customers tell us they love our store because there’s always an element of surprise and a great buy to be found. We constantly get asked how we do it,” Mr Gazal said.

“It’s not a secret really, our team of buyers simply deal directly with designers and brands to negotiate the best possible price on current season merchandise and these savings are then passed on to our customers.

“Everything you find at Trade Secret is genuine, first quality, current season merchandise. You won’t find seconds or samples in our stores. This has been our philosophy for over 20 years and the secret behind our success.”
