Toowoomba famil to put Coolum on the map

August 14, 2012

Members of Coolum Business & Tourism hosted Toowoomba Chronicle photographer, Kev Farmer and his family for a famil this weekend to demonstrate what a great holiday option the seaside town is for the Queensland drive market.

CB&T President, Noel Mooney said that with school holidays only weeks away the organisation felt it was a great time to remind families of some of Coolum’s highlights including barefoot bowls, a bit of retail therapy, a sample of the great dining options, a surf lesson at Main Beach and a visit to the Coolum Community Day event.

“There really is no better way to show off Coolum than to have people experience it for themselves and this weekend Coolum really turned it on for our visitors,” said Noel.

“The weather was absolutely perfect, the town was abuzz with the community celebrations and even the kangaroos came out to welcome the family at the Palmer Coolum Resort. Kev, his wife Kath and their three young children had a fantastic time and commented on how friendly and relaxed everyone was. I’d like to thank everyone who came on board in pulling this together and we all look forward to seeing the outcome in the Chronicle in the coming weeks.”

Businesses who participated include Coolum at the Beach, Coolum Beach Bowls Club, The Caf, Coolum Surf School, My Place, the Palmer Coolum Resort, Raw Energy, Coolum Beach Surf Club, Beach 2 Bush Adventure Hire, The Shop, Watermelon Red, Flax Flowers and Salty Dog Cellars.

The famil is just one of the initiatives Coolum Business & Tourism is implementing to encourage tourism and drive customers to local businesses. The organisation is also in the final stages of delivering a coupon booklet, much like the highly successful Entertainment Book in format, which is set to come out in time for September school holidays.
