Sustained growth on the cards for local business
February 4, 2015
If the sustained business growth of Sunshine Coast dredging, civil contracting and marine civil company Hall Contracting throughout the past two years is anything to go by, 2015 is shaping up to be a big year for the local business.
Managing Director Cameron Hall said after having operated on the Sunshine Coast for more than 65 years, the company had spent 2014 establishing its Malaysian office and expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific region.
“On the whole, 2014 was a very positive year for us and saw us grow from 140 full-time employees to 180,” Mr Hall said.
“At a local level, our civil contracting division completed more than 550 lots across three major projects on the Sunshine Coast last year at Brightwater, Peregian Springs Ridges and Pelican Waters.”
“We also completed stages at projects in Bli Bli, Bribie Island and Beerwah, which enabled us to maintain a workforce of typically 90 people based just on our Sunshine Coast residential projects in order to meet our clients’ needs,” Mr Hall said.
Last year also saw the continued expansion of Hall Contracting’s civil capabilities into residential and infrastructure markets outside of the Sunshine Coast with projects undertaken in Mackay, Caboolture and Brisbane.
“Our projects in Brisbane included airside works on the much-anticipated new parallel runway at Brisbane Airport, as well as other projects in suburbs such as Fitzgibbon, Griffin, Dakabin and Burpengary,” Mr Hall said.
“We also commenced civil works on a large new master-planned community called North Harbour at Burpengary East just prior to Christmas, which is forecast to be home to 2,000 lots on a 764 hectare site and will include a 300-berth marina with access to Moreton Bay.”
Not to be outdone by the civil contracting arm of the company, Hall Contracting’s dredging fleet completed projects at Ross River in Townsville, Port Douglas and the Darwin Naval Base.
Mr Hall said the outlook for 2015 was exciting and extremely busy for the privately owned company.
“With a number of major civil projects already underway across Queensland, as well as several medium-sized dredging and marine projects in the pipeline across Australia, South-East Asia and the Pacific Islands, we are set to sustain our growth with a focus on exceptional customer service in all divisions,” Mr Hall concluded.
