Survey shows Royal wedding will set trends

April 28, 2011

The Royal wedding is almost upon us and a survey conducted by the It’s My Wedding Expo this week showed that around 75 per cent of us would be sitting down to watch it while 18 per cent said they wouldn’t admit to family, friends and colleagues that they were interested, indicating a certain amount of ‘uncoolness’ associated with watching the event of the year.

Dee Collins, who organises the Its My Wedding expos, said about 50 per cent of respondents believed the Royal Wedding would increase the popularity of weddings and believes attendance numbers will be up for the next Expo at the Maroochy RSL on May 22.

“The importance of the right venue was highlighted as the number one priority by the recent survey results, showing brides and their grooms were committed to investing time and energy to find the perfect venue for their ceremony and reception,” said Dee.

“We’ve also learned that couples still want the best for their big day but many are now tending towards weddings on a smaller scale.”

“Our survey has shown that the top five most important considerations for brides and grooms are the venue, catering, wedding attire (bridal gown and groom’s suit), the music selection and of course, the ultimate reward and indulgence – the honeymoon!”

Dee says modern-day-brides are still seeking out a beautiful location, stylish reception venue, quality catering, impressive flowers, couture gowns and indulging in a memorable honeymoon whilst still keeping tabs on the expense.

”So what better way to explore all the ideas and costs than to attend a bridal expo where they get to see, touch, meet and speak with experienced and talented Sunshine Coast wedding suppliers,” said Dee.

“Whether they are inspired by the Royal Wedding and want all glitter, gold and monograms, or they want a simple, stylish DIY wedding with their nearest and dearest, the trend in 2011 is for brides and grooms to show a reflection of their own personalities when it comes to creating their own fairytale wedding,” said Dee.

The expo is at the Maroochy RSL Events Centre, Memorial Avenue, Maroochydore on Sunday, May 22 from 10am-4pm with fashion parades at 11.30am and 2.30pm. For more information please visit www.itsmywedding.com.au or follow on Facebook at www.facebook.com/itsmywedding.com.au
