Sunshine Coast to welcome celebs for Wishlist fundraiser
June 27, 2013
It’s that time of year again when the Sunshine Coast rolls out the red carpet to welcome a gaggle of celebrities and high profile business people in their finest garb.
The annual Wishlist Spring Carnival Lunch will be held at the Palmer Coolum Resort on 20 September and has once again attracted hosts and fans of the event, Natalie Barr and Mark “Berretts” Berretta from Seven’s Sunrise.
This year’s line-up will have a greater fashion focus including a catwalk show featuring the clothing of international fashion designer, Jayson Brunsdon whose label is featured in Myer stores across Australia, which will be MC’d by leading Australian hair stylist Joh Bailey.
But the event is more than just an afternoon of fashion, frivolity and star spotting, as all money raised will go towards helping raise funds for paediatric needs at Sunshine Coast hospitals.
Last year all records were broken when over $120,000 was raised to purchase a Prostate Biopsy Ultrasound which has significantly improved the experience for Sunshine Coast men diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Wishlist Manager, Lisa Rowe said the event is shaping up to be just as successful as last year’s.
“To be able to raise $120,000 over lunch for a good cause is such an achievement and it is only made possible because of the wonderful support we receive from our sponsors and the Sunshine Coast community,” Ms Rowe said.
“We’re so grateful to all those people who donate auction items as well as our guests who always give generously on the day.”
Around 100 donated items will go under the hammer on the day, including 12 major items still to be announced.
The event, which is sponsored by Coastline BMW amongst others, is so popular with local business professionals and celebrities that tickets were oversubscribed before they went on sale.
Chairman of the Wishlist Spring Carnival Organising Committee and Partner at Schultz Toomey O’Brien Lawyers, Travis Schultz said everyone, himself included, was always keen to get on board.
“Most of our Table Ambassadors and their guests signed up for the 2013 Spring Carnival Lunch straight after last year’s event,” Mr Schultz said.
“When people like Nat Barr and Berretts are joining us for the third time, it really speaks highly of the event and while fashion has always been a big part of the event, we’re excited to be raising the bar this year.”
MC Joh Bailey said he was excited to be getting on board for the first time.
“I’m delighted to support what is clearly a very successful event and look forward to coming to the Sunshine Coast in September,” Mr Bailey said.
“Having a renowned fashion designer on board is fantastic and I’m confident we’ll have a lot of fun while we raise much-needed funds for medical equipment for the kids of the Sunshine Coast.”
