September 20, 2010

Organisers of the Organisers of the Wishlist Spring Carnival Gala lunch held on Friday, September 17 were celebrating the impressive $114K raised during the event which will go towards creating a paediatric area in Nambour Hospital’s emergency department.

The lunch, which was attended by a number of celebrities including Jennifer Hawkins, Kieren Perkins, Natalie Barr, Grant Kenny and local host, Todd Widdicombe benefitted from the generosity of over 600 Sunshine Coast business professionals who bid on the 99 auction items during the course of the event.

“We could not have anticipated such a fantastic outcome and are incredibly grateful to our guests for their very generous contribution to this worthy cause,” said Travis Schultz, managing partner of Schultz Toomey O’Brien and chair of the organising committee for the event.

“We’d also like to thank all the businesses and individuals who donated to the significant list of auction items which made is possible for us to achieve such an impressive total.”

Wishlist Manager, Lisa Rowe believes the event, sponsored by Coastline BMW, demonstrates the generous spirit of Sunshine Coast business people and the region’s commitment to improving local health services, particularly for children.

“It’s encouraging to know that we can now create a child-friendly zone within the emergency ward to protect our children from some of confronting situations encountered in emergency on a daily basis,” said Lisa.

“We would like to thank both the attendees and the sponsors of the event and look forward to getting started.”

Some of the biggest ticket items on the day included a Sunshine Coast Daily advertising package selling for $11,000, 101 bottles of wine hand selected from Travis Schultz’s private cellar going for $7,000, a Lunch with the Greats package at $6,500 and a ‘Live like a Millionaire’ luxury accommodation package at $6,600 picked up by Jennifer Hawkins herself.

Major auction items included lunch with the greats – Kieren Perkins, Liam Birchley and Alistair Lynch, an all areas access pass to Bathurst with Mark Berretta, a painting by local artist, Kendall, a behind the scenes Seven Sunrise set visit, 101 bottles of fine wine, a week’s luxury accommodation, a Dunlopillo bed and golf bag signed by Jennifer Hawkins, an Australian Open package and advertising packages with the Sunshine Coast Daily and Prime Radio.
