Life is all about finding the right balance and that is a sentiment Sunshine Coast business owner Sonya Keenan is hoping to encourage within the local community, launching the Balance Boardroom in Maroochydore.

The co-working space – situated near the new Maroochydore CBD – will help business thrive in a fast-pace digital world with high-end facilities and the latest technology.

Owner of marketing business OMG and co-founder of Balance by Deborah Hutton, Sonya Keenan has spent the last ten years commuting to and from Sydney and delivering her services all over the world and she confirms co-working spaces are becoming the new way of doing business across Australia but the Balance Boardroom is offering something different.

“I have been investigating what works well for start-up, small and medium-sized businesses and while it’s great to be able to share ideas and collaborate, you also need space to really get stuck into the work which was a strong focus of our set up,” said Ms Keenan.

“The nature of business is also fast developing into the digital world so it was essential to make the space more than just an office.

“The online world is an essential part of business so we’ve created a designated content creation space with the right video equipment, green screens and software to assist everyone from influencers to digital marketers.

Balance has always been a core belief of Sonya who has helped to transform the lives of her clients and guided them on the right path to success.

One of her clients and founder of My Menopause Transformation Dr Wendy Sweet said her work takes her all over the world and this month she will be travelling from New Zealand to the Sunshine Coast to work with Sonya.

“That’s the great thing about this co- working space, it allows you to take your business all over the world and still have the technology and space to work,” said Dr Sweet.

“Sonya has an incredible ability to connect with business people with more than 20 years’ experience in senior management and marketing positions within government corporations, private companies, ASX listed corporations including Mirvac, Lend Lease, APN News & Media, Golden Casket Corporation and Coles Myer.

“I am grateful to be able to learn from her wisdom and knowledge about running a successful business and I’m excited to see how many more businesses she will be able to help with the Balance Boardroom.

“Sonya has a great understanding of the digital world and how businesses can make the most of it through content creation and digital strategies.”

Knight Frank research showed the number of co-working spaces in Australia grew by 297 per cent between 2013 and 2017.

“It’s a testament to the changing landscape of business – we no longer need to employ dozens of people in one spot, especially with many new job opportunities concentrated online,” said Ms Keenan.

“At OMG, our biggest asset is a computer and the connection with our clients which means we don’t need to be confined to a desk all the time but it’s great to have a space for when we do. We create digital strategies to allow followers to connect with small and medium-sized business.

“Businesses are tapping into the digitalisation transformation in a very positive way. Internet on the Sunshine Coast is about to get even faster with the Submarine Broadband Cable landing in 2020, so it will be crucial to have more spaces like the Balance Boardroom.

The Australia Bureau of Statistics reported digital products were worth $93.5 billion to the Australian economy in 2016/2017 while the industry of digital activities had a higher value than education, retail trade as well as agriculture, forestry and fishing.

The Balance Boardroom workspace is ideal for sole-traders and small teams with private offices for up to three people, a permanent lockable workstation, or a casual hot desk for visiting business owners.

“The video and podcast studio is equipped with a green screen, assorted backdrops, video equipment, mixing desk for live editing and stream for up to three cameras as well as producers and production crew available,” said Ms Keenan.

“It’s that difference that is making the Balance Boardroom stand out from other co-working spaces on the Sunshine Coast and businesses won’t have to put in such a significant financial investment when they’re only starting out, instead they can focus on creating a top quality product or service.”
