Strand’s luxury offering unveiled

April 28, 2016

Townsville residents have been given their first glimpse of The Strand’s first five-level, $11 million luxury apartment and restaurant project, with scaffolding having recently been removed and the crane having been taken down at the VEER development site.

Gavin Wuiske, General Manager at RCQ Construction – the building company constructing VEER – said the development was the first to have been built at The Strand in more than 10 years, and certainly since the Townsville City Plan was unveiled by Townsville City Council last year.

“VEER represents a new era for The Strand, with the development set to bring a modern flavour to the strip and also deliver two brand new hospitality offerings in the ground level commercial tenancies,” Mr Wuiske said.

“The project is really raising the bar in terms of quality and luxury, with finishes in each apartment tailored to suit the purchaser’s specific preferences surrounding joinery, tiling, fixtures, lighting and colour scheme.”

Mr Wuiske said in keeping with the high-end feel, all apartments had been fitted with designer stone and stainless steel bench tops, combination 2 Pac and timber veneer finishes, walk-in pantries, dual ovens, aluminium skirtings, generous-sized bathrooms and ensuites with recess seats, dual overhead showers, shower rails and soaker tubs, frameless acid-etched glazing partitions, as well as ducted air-conditioning to living areas and a first rate security and audio-visual intercom communications system.

“VEER is undoubtedly one of the most opulent developments Townsville has ever seen, so it’s great to be playing a role in delivering such a signature project on Townsville’s premier waterfront.”

“We have averaged approximately 36 construction workers on site each day since construction commenced in July 2015, and as a Queensland-based company, we are thrilled to have created more than 300 jobs over the course of the construction period.”

Paul Spina, Director of PDS, the developers of the project, said the development had now completely sold out, with apartments commanding sales prices in excess of $1 million.

“Given VEER offers just eight unique apartments at one of Townsville’s most desirable addresses, we always expected there would be a lot of interest from high-end buyers looking for a more boutique offering,” Mr Spina said.

“The waterfront development boasts spectacular views of the Coral Sea and Magnetic Island, and being located within easy walking distance of cafés, restaurants and recreation areas, it’s really no surprise the apartments were sold out within months of going to market.”

All apartments are a minimum of 220m2 and feature three bedrooms plus study, as well as a spacious, north-facing living room, NBN compatibility, privacy screens and glass balustrading. The development also includes remote-controlled access to carpark for all residents, a recreational area with barbeque and pool, and security access to the lift and lobby.

Construction of VEER is scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2016.

RCQ Construction will continue to work alongside PDS, delivering their next project – the $50 million Great Barrier Reef Cultural Centre – proposed for commencement in November 2016.
