State gymnasts going for gold

The countdown is on for gymnasts across the state as they prepare to compete in Queensland’s most significant gymnastics event, the Senior State Championships and State Team Trial in Brisbane from Friday, 4 April to Sunday, 6 April.
The event will see over 300 of the state’s best gymnasts battle it out in all three disciplines for a place on the podium, as well as selection for the Queensland Nationals team which will compete in Melbourne in May.
Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Director said the three-day event would be an exceptional showcase of the state’s most elite gymnasts representing over 40 Queensland clubs as well as competitors from high performance centres in Victoria and New Zealand.
“Events such as these enable young gymnasts to not only compete for the coveted titles but also to learn from the best,” Ms Dowdell said.
“Queensland has some of the nation’s most outstanding gymnasts and a number will have their eye firmly on making future Commonwealth and Olympic Games teams.”
