Secret’s out – Trade Secret to open second Coast store

April 3, 2013

With the Kawana store setting sales records month after month, Trade Secret has announced the opening of a second store in Maroochydore which set to stimulate not only brand-conscious shoppers but also local employment figures with an estimated 35 new jobs being created when the store opens on April 11.

These jobs, in addition to the 40 jobs already offered at the Kawana store, demonstrate the retailer’s confidence in the Sunshine Coast as a thriving, growing economy with a population hungry for good value fashion and homewares.

The second store, opening in the Sunshine Homemaker’s Centre near Bunnings Maroochydore, will follow the same winning formula as the other 26 Trade Secret stores across Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT by offering quality, genuine national and international brands at up to 60 per cent less than other stores’ prices.

According to Trade Secret’s General Manager, Richard Gazal, it’s a formula that’s proven to be a resounding success on the Sunshine Coast with Kawana being the busiest store nationwide.

“At Trade Secret we’re proud to offer our customers the latest looks from the biggest brands around the world at amazing prices, something which has clearly been recognised by savvy shoppers on the Coast,” said Mr Gazal.

“Since we opened the Kawana store at Home Central in 2006 it’s been evident that our product offering is an excellent fit for the residents of the Sunshine Coast and we’re delighted to offer the northern end of the Coast better access to what’s on offer by opening another store.”

“The Coast is clearly on an upward trajectory with the commencement of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, the imminent airport upgrade and the development of the Maroochydore Principal Activity Centre which puts our new store in the heart of the Sunshine Coast’s CBD.”

President of the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce, Ross Hepworth believes the retailer’s increased commitment to the Sunshine Coast is a positive endorsement of both the region and in particular, to Maroochydore’s emergence as the Coast’s CBD.

“Maroochydore continues to attract some of the biggest brands in the country and we are delighted to welcome Trade Secret to our vibrant business hub,” Mr Hepworth said.

“There are exciting times ahead for Maroochydore and with the development of the Principal Regional Activity Centre I have no doubt that this trend will continue which bodes well for increased investment and job creation.”

“Locals will not only benefit from increased employment opportunities and access to Trade Secret’s wares but also from the knock-on effect on small businesses and other retailers in the Centre. As the first fashion retailer in the Sunshine Homemaker’s Centre, Trade Secret will attract a new demographic to the complex driving additional business to its neighbours.”

Trade Secret, which this year celebrates 21 years since the opening of its first store in Southport on the Gold Coast, has managed to succeed in a highly competitive market through its unique approach of negotiating the best prices on current season stock directly with the world’s biggest brands.

“We focus on stocking the best quality brands from all over the world, and creating a unique ‘treasure hunt’ shopping experience for our customers. Our shoppers are very savvy, and they come to us to find bargains on brands found only in the most reputable high street stores and on the pages of glossy magazines,” Mr Gazal continued.

“Our customers tell us they are always surprised when they visit the store thanks to our commitment to negotiating the best deals direct with designers on current season merchandise.”

The store’s opening celebrations will include a number of Style Workshops hosted by some of the Sunshine Coast’s most fashion savvy bloggers.

Sami Muirhead from Hot 91’s breakfast show and blog ‘samichic.com’ will host the first Style Workshop in-store on Thursday, 11 April at 9.30am and well-known Sunshine Coast fashion blogger, Krista Eppelstun from ‘mylookbook.com.au’ will share her styling tips at 10am on Saturday April 13. Fashion guru Genine Howard of ‘alliandgenine.com’ fame will also host a workshop at 1pm on Saturday.
