Secret’s out for new homewares store
March 18, 2014
The Sunshine Coast will become home to the first Home Secret store in Australia, with big brand clothing retailer Trade Secret officially launching its new homewares and furniture chain at Home Central in Kawana on Thursday, 3 April.
Home Secret will follow the same model as the highly successful Trade Secret franchise, offering big brand decor, furnishings, gifts and everything for the home for up to 60% off other stores’ prices.
General Manager of Stores and Operations of the Trade Secret and Home Secret group, Matthew Mackenzie, said with two Trade Secret stores already operating successfully in Kawana and Maroochydore and the Sunshine Coast poised for substantial retail growth over the coming years, it had made perfect sense to pilot the new chain in the region.
“Trade Secret has been so well-received by Sunshine Coast locals that it’s become our strongest-performing regional trading market,” Mr Mackenzie said.
“We have a fantastic, established team at Kawana led by Sunshine Coast local Emma Rodda — one of our top store managers — so it was an easy decision to launch the new store here.”
“We’re really excited to be opening our very first Home Secret store on the Sunshine Coast as we have a wonderfully loyal customer base in the community here. We’ll be providing an extensive range of home décor, gifts, furnishings, kitchen and dining goods, manchester, indoor and outdoor furniture and pet supplies, we know our shoppers will enjoy the treasure hunt and the experience of shopping in our new store!”
Mr Mackenzie said the launch marked an exciting milestone for the company, which hoped to roll out a number of other Home Secret outlets across Australia in the near future.
“With the Sunshine Coast population increasing exponentially and developments like Caloundra South and Sunshine Cove set to attract thousands of new residents, we expect the new store will only go from strength to strength as it services a growing market. This will provide us with a great platform to launch other Home Secret stores around the country.”
Mr Mackenzie said it was no secret how both Trade Secret and Home Secret offer big brand products at up to 60 per cent below regular retail price.
“We negotiate with brands directly which allows us to bring great savings to our customers,” Mr Mackenzie said.
“We buy excess current season inventory and negotiate great deals on the latest styles, and pass those savings onto the customer. We have new stock arriving everyday so there are new items to discover on every visit.”
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson welcomed the new store opening and said he was delighted to see the new employment opportunities being generated in the region.
“The Home Secret store has already generated 10 new jobs in addition to the 75 jobs at the existing Trade Secret stores, so it’s great news for our local economy,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“It’s also very encouraging to see such a high profile business recognising the great opportunities on offer on the Sunshine Coast and investing in the region.”
The new Home Secret store will officially open at 7am on Thursday, 3 April at Home Central, Kawana Way, Birtinya, next door to the Trade Secret store. Face painting and other family activities will be offered on Saturday, 5 and Sunday, 6 April and all shoppers visiting the store in the coming weeks will have the chance to win a $1,500 home makeover.
