School scholarship applications now open

7 May, 2013

Scholarship applications are now open for students wishing to enrol in Year 8 at Kawana Waters State College (KWSC) in 2014.

Kawana Waters State College Deputy Principal Elly Gerbo said if last year was anything to go by, there was likely to be some stiff competition amongst prospective students.

“We consistently receive numerous high calibre applications when our scholarships become available, and expect this year will be no exception,” Ms Gerbo said.

“It’s always challenging to select the winners as there are so many talented students on the Sunshine Coast.”

The school is offering eight $400 scholarships to reward outstanding young students who have succeeded academically, are good role models to their peers, and are strong in one or more areas including sport, art, dance, drama, music, public speaking or information technology.

Applications are open to students currently enrolled in Year 7, and are not limited to those studying at KWSC’s Primary Campus.

“In past years, scholarships have been awarded to students hailing from a range of local primary schools, such as Currimundi State School and Talara Primary College,” Ms Gerbo said.

Scholarship applications close at 4pm on Friday, 24 May 2013. For more information and to access an application form, contact Elly Gerbo or Kirsten Ferdinands on (07) 5493 3388 or email the.principal@kawanawaterssc.eq.edu.au.
