Royal wedding has local industry abuzz

April 24, 2011

With the Royal Wedding only days away brides across the Sunshine Coast will be eagerly awaiting the ceremony for inspiration.

Organisers of the Its My Wedding Expo at the Maroochy RSL on May 22 are expecting a flurry of excitement following the wedding and anticipate interest in all things wedding will be at a peak after William and Kate tie the knot.

Dee Collins who organises the event said there certainly seemed to be a buzz in the wedding industry around the Royal Wedding and she is anticipating big numbers as brides explore the options available for their big day.

“The It’s my Wedding Expo is a really fun day out for brides who often plan it as a day out with their bridesmaids, mums or the incumbent groom,” said Dee.

“We expect that brides will be full of ideas after watching the three-hour royal wedding and while not many people have the budget Kate has, the expo gives them the opportunity to see some of the best wedding suppliers the Coast has available to and discuss their ideas with professionals.”

The Expo features everything the discerning bride needs including one-on-ones with celebrants, hair and make-up stylists, photographers, caterers, venues, entertainers and florists. The fashion shows which feature bridal couture are always a highlight and this year, for the first time in Australia, visitors to the expo will be able to see the gorgeous bridal and mother-of-the-bride creations by Nicki Hearn from Away with the Faeries.

“We live in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia and have a very professional range of wedding suppliers making the Sunshine Coast a premier wedding destination, both for locals and those travelling inter and intrastate,” said Dee.

“Given the very wet summer season and the impact it’s had on our local economy, we hope the impressive showcase of exhibitors will provide some great opportunities for both our local businesses and brides from across the Coast and beyond.”

The expo is at the Maroochy RSL Events Centre, Memorial Avenue, Maroochydore on Sunday, May 22 from 10am-4pm with fashion parades at 11.30am and 2.30pm. For more information please visit www.itsmywedding.com.au or follow on Facebook at www.facebook.com/itsmywedding.com.au
