Rhythmic Gymnastics Multiples/Primary School Challenge

Robertson State School is about to come alive in spectacular fashion with more than 100 gymnasts – aged 5 to 18 – competing in the 2019 Gymnastics Queensland Rhythmic Gymnastics Multiples and Primary School Challenge being held this Sunday.

The Multiples Challenge captivates the audience with pairs, trios, and groups of four presenting some impressive routines in the apparatus including balls, hoops, clubs and ribbons.

Athletes from five clubs – Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, River City Rhythmic Gymnastics, Illusions Rhythmic Gymnastics, Premier Gymnastics, Logan City PCYC and Ritmix – will take part in the showcase.

Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer Kym Dowdell said this event will allow the athletes to perfect their routines for the upcoming National Clubs Carnival being held on the Gold Coast from 20 September to 25 September.

“The National Clubs Carnival is always a massive event on the Gymnastics Queensland calendar so the athletes will be taking any opportunity to hone their skills in the lead up,” Ms Dowdell said.

“The Multiples Challenge this weekend is the perfect place for the talented gymnasts to ensure they can compete at their highest level in various apparatus.

“The girls – as young as 5 years old – have been training incredibly hard in the lead up to the Multiples event.

“When you see just how graceful and yet highly skilled they can be, it’s inspiring and fascinating to watch.

“The girls will be performing in either pairs, trios or groups of four in various apparatus after spending months if not years refining their flexibility, coordination and skill.”

Gymnastics Queensland is encouraging the community to show their support with tickets for each session $5 for an adult and $3 for a child.

The Rhythmic Gymnastics Multiples/Primary Schools Challenge will be held at Robertson State School at Estroli Street, Robertson on Sunday, 8 September. Tickets are available at the door.
