Record numbers expected at up-and-coming Queensland Garden Expo

June 27, 2011

Excitement is building ahead of one of Australia’s largest and most celebrated gardening extravaganzas, the 3-day Queensland Garden Expo being held at the Nambour Showground from 8-10 July.

Record crowds are expected at this year’s event with garden lovers and families making plans to travel from near and far to attend the show. Facebook fans including landscapers, florists, photographers, retailers and accommodation houses have flagged their intention to visit, coming from as far as Rockhampton in the north and Grafton in the south. A number of gardening clubs and tour operators will bring garden enthusiasts from across South East Queensland, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast as well as New South Wales.

Event Organiser, Marion Beazley is delighted with the unprecedented interest both from the general public and exhibitors and expects this to be the biggest in the 27 year history of the expo.

“Every site is booked – we have a record number of nurseries exhibiting, seven stages with the most knowledgeable speakers in the industry, the best range of gardening products and over 40,000 plants on offer. Visitors will love the incredible variety available offering ideas and inspiration as well as a whole host of activities to ensure it’s a great day out for all,” said Marion.

Marion believes that maintaining the high standard of the exhibitors, having over 40,000 plants available each day and an impressive range of products on offer has been fundamental to the success of the Garden Expo over the years. The loyal and continued support of the outstanding speakers has also been a catalyst for growth of the show and has resulted in the addition of a new cooking stage and additional feature sites including the Living Backyard display.

“While post-floods, Cyclone Yasi conditions and the tough economic climate have made it a challenging few months for Queenslanders, it is great to see that sustainability and self-sufficiency continues to inspire visitors who come to the Expo seeking ideas and ways to create their own backyard haven and enjoy the fruits of their hard work,” said Marion.

Visitors to this year’s Expo have the added benefit of winning Expo Cash Vouchers which lucky garden expo fans can spend at the Expo and all visitors have the chance to win a 7-day trip for two to China as a gate prize.

Whether you’re new to gardening or already sport a green thumb, the Queensland Garden Expo offers something for everyone. Visit the Expo website for expo highlights, details of the high profile speaker program to plan your days, an exhibitors list and much more at www.qldgardenexpo.com.au.
