Pro Computers joins Emporio community

June 2, 2014

2014 is proving to be a big year for Rudi du Preez.

The local businessman has opened the doors of Pro Computers at the Emporio development in Maroochydore today and is set to expand his team of staff to its biggest number yet, while also tackling the needs of the numerous new clients that are expected to come as a result of outlet’s prime location in the heart of the CBD.

Mr du Preez said while the Pro Computers outlet had been operating successfully in Maroochydore for more than 12 years, the lure of the new CBD had proved too appealing to ignore and he had decided to relocate to Emporio.

“The Maroochydore CBD is set to grow significantly with the redevelopment of the Horton Park Golf Course, so I was keen to strike while the iron was hot and secure a position in the heart of all the action,” Mr du Preez said.

“While the area is already seen as a business hotspot I think the future plans for Maroochydore are very exciting and any business providing services locally will reap the benefits of this growth in the coming years. With so many new and existing Sunshine Coast residents and businesses expected to move to the Maroochydore area, there is bound to be an ongoing demand for computer services.”

Mr du Preez has taken up a 64m2 tenancy at Emporio and said the National Broadband Network connectivity available was a key factor in his decision to move to the precinct.

“Emporio is one of the few places on the Sunshine Coast that offers this connectivity, so this was a really strong drawcard for us.”

“The new store will provide us with extremely high speed internet, enabling us to serve our customers even better.”

Mr du Preez said Pro Computers already had other successful outlets in Rigby Street, Nambour and Musgrave Street, Rockhampton and had amassed a large number of loyal customers.

“We’ve been in business for more than 20 years and still have many of the same customers coming back, which is really nice to see,” Mr du Preez said.

Reed Property Group Assistant Development Manager Lisa Dwyer said Mr du Preez was not the only business owner recognising the Maroochydore CBD’s appeal, with several business opening their doors in the dining and entertainment precinct of Ocean Street in recent months.

“The Sunshine Coast has been in dire need of a vibrant entertainment hub for some time now, and it’s great to see this coming to fruition in Ocean Street as Stage One of Big Top Market Fresh,” Ms Dwyer said.

“With the new live music and dining venues, as well as large quantities of specialty shops and professional service outlets like Pro Computers, Maroochydore will be a one-stop shop for a broad range of services.”

“Between the Big Top redevelopment and Sunshine Coast Council’s plans for the Maroochydore City Centre, Maroochydore is set to come of age and evolve into a thriving regional centre,” Ms Dwyer said.
Once complete, the redeveloped Maroochydore CBD will include a regional arts and entertainment centre, public amphitheatre and civic plaza, regional library, retail and commercial outlets and urban open space.
“The changes Maroochydore is undergoing are really exciting and it’s great to be a part of the action,” Ms Dwyer said.

“While Emporio is already home to hundreds of tenants, we’re looking forward to welcoming even more residential and commercial tenants once Stage Two is complete, and adding to the pulse of the new-look CBD.”

With Stage One of the Emporio development already complete and Stage Two due to be finalised in the coming weeks, the Sunshine Coast’s first true mixed-use development brings an exciting dimension to the Maroochydore area. The development comprises a mix of apartments, retail and professional office space, with high-profile businesses including KPMG, Parsons Brinckerhoff and Travel Associates calling the precinct home.
