Pizzeria secures slice of CBD action
March 16, 2015
Maroochydore’s rapidly growing CBD has welcomed a new Italian restaurant to the fold, with Alfresco Pizzeria and Wine Bar having officially opened its doors at Emporio on 5 March.
Alfresco Pizzeria and Wine Bar Owner Prabh Singh said he was excited to be setting up shop in Maroochydore and was buoyed by the positive response received in the restaurant’s first two weeks of trade.
“We could never have predicted the hype around the opening would be so strong; we’ve already had plenty of eager customers come to try our range of pizzas, pastas and modern Australian dishes over the past few days,” Mr Singh said.
“While we’ve received some great comments about all of the food, the tandoori chicken pizza has emerged as the crowd favourite so far.”
Mr Singh said it was partly this experimentation with more traditional dishes that had prompted him to launch the pizzeria on the Sunshine Coast.
“I’ve worked in award-winning restaurants on both the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast for the past seven years and wanted an opportunity to share my passion for food without any restrictions.”
“I really enjoy the freedom that comes with running your own business and have worked closely with my head chef to perfect the Alfresco Pizzeria and Wine Bar menu.”
Mr Singh said he and partner Jasveen Grewal had launched the 60-seat restaurant after moving into an apartment at Emporio.
“We really connected with the ‘live, work, play’ philosophy at Emporio and liked the idea of being able to walk downstairs to work while having all the CBD amenities at our fingertips,” Mr Singh said.
“For us, the water views, relaxed ambience and central location were the key factors that drew us to the development and we think it’s this this appeal that will continue to attract patrons from across the Coast to Alfresco Pizzeria and Wine Bar well into the future.”
Reed Property Group Head of Development Jay Emmerton said he was delighted to welcome the new business to the Emporio community and see the development flourishing.
“From the outset, Emporio was designed to be a thriving mixed-use community and it’s great to see the residential, commercial and retail aspects operating in synergy,” Mr Emmerton said.
“The Maroochydore area as a whole is also fast becoming known as the Coast’s go-to cultural and entertainment hub, so it’s great to be a part of the action within the CBD.”
“We’re also looking forward to leasing the remaining 128m² waterfront restaurant space at Emporio, which has an existing liquor licence in place.”
Alfresco Pizzeria and Wine Bar is open from 11.30am til late, Monday to Friday, and 9.00am til late on weekends. It offers a range of craft beers, cocktails and Italian wines to complement the dishes on offer.
