North Shore Realty celebrates 20 years in business
March 13, 2015
1995. It was the era of Keating, hypercolour t-shirts, Beverly Hills 90210 and cassette tapes. And for Sunshine Coast business North Shore Realty, it was the beginning of a business journey that has since spanned two decades and looks set to continue for many more.
This year, the Coolum Beach and Marcoola-based agency will celebrate 20 years in operation, marking it as one of the Sunshine Coast’s longest standing businesses.
North Shore Realty Coolum Principal Noel Mooney said he and the team were thrilled to be celebrating such a significant milestone and attributed the agency’s success largely to the support of the local community.
“From the outset, our business model was based on the premise that investing time and money into the local community would likewise see local residents investing in us,” Mr Mooney said.
“We actively look to participate in furthering the facilities and opportunities available to both children and adults in the region and have found property sellers and landlords have really embraced the idea that listing with us means seeing money put back into the local community.”
“To date, we have contributed approximately $350,000 to the local community through a range of sponsorships and donations, and have dedicated countless hours to supporting and coordinating community events.”
Mr Mooney said some of the community organisations and events North Shore Realty had supported over the years included the Coolum & District Netball Association, Mudjimba Surf Club, Coolum Surf Club, Marcoola Surf Club, Coolum Bowls Club, Lions Club, various sporting clubs and the Annual Christmas Tree Light Up. The business was also heavily involved with the Coolum Kite Festival.
“For us, building mutually beneficial relationships with the local community has been at the heart of our business, and it’s the strength of these ties that has not only sustained North Shore Realty over the years, but also enabled us to grow substantially,” Mr Mooney said.
Surviving 20 years has undoubtedly bucked current business trends, with recent figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics indicating just 50 per cent of businesses that launched in 2010 survived the four years through to 2014.
“We feel very grateful to be still standing today — despite the 2007-08 global financial crisis — and to have grown into one of the largest agencies in the region,” Mr Mooney said.
“There will always be plenty of ups and downs in business, but I think one of the attributes that has served us well over the years is our adaptability and willingness to embrace new opportunities for growth.”
“While North Shore Realty originally focused solely on property sales, we’ve grown over the past two decades to encompass property management, body corporate management, holiday accommodation management and running local tourism website www.coolum.com.au through our two offices.”
To celebrate the 20-year milestone, North Shore Realty is giving away more than $20,000 in prizes to its loyal customer base, and is hosting a competition for Sunshine Coast locals to win an iPad mini via its Facebook page.
