Mackay CBD apartments make their mark
September 10, 2014
Residents are toasting the completion of Rivermarque, the contemporary $40 million residential river-side complex in the Mackay CBD, as keys are expected to be handed over in the next week.
Managing Director of RCQ Construction Mr Steve Cole said he and his team were delighted to see the completion of Rivermarque, which is estimated to have injected more than $30 million into the local economy during its construction.
“RCQC sourced a large percentage of building material required for the project from local businesses and employed more than 120 local trades’ people at various stages throughout the 14-month construction period,” Mr Cole said.
Managing Director of Reed Property Group and Rivermarque developer, Mr Ken Reed, said they were pleased to have sold 90% of the 91 apartments available.
“There has been a recent increase in enquiries which may be due to the federal government’s decision to approve Australia’s largest coalmine, the $16.5 billion Carmichael Mine in the Galilee Basin,” Mr Reed said.
“According to the federal Environment Minister, Greg Hunt MP, this project is set to create 2,475 jobs during construction and another 3,920 jobs during the operations phase.
“In addition, the recent $2.2 billion rail line approval to cart the coal from the mine to the coast for export is predicted to create more than 2,000 jobs.
“These are all indicators that things are about to get a lot busier in the Galilee Basin and Mackay region, which is a positive sign for growth in the future.”
In another vote of confidence in Mackay’s CBD Rivermarque’s on-site managers, Oaks Hotels and Resorts, has secured the ground-floor retail space for a café which is due to open in mid-September and will add to the vibrancy of the CBD location.
Rivermarque offers a combination of studios and one and two-bedroom dwellings. All apartments have a car park and on-site facilities include a lobby, gym, outdoor pool, spa and BBQ area.
