Local retailer to join online trend

December 13, 2011

One of Coolum Beach’s most popular retail stores, Watermelon Red, is taking its impressive interior design and fashion range to Australia and the world with the pre-Christmas launch of a new-look website and online gift service.

The local store hopes to get a little slice of the estimated $12 billion a year spent in online retail. This number is only set to grow with Chief Executive of Australia Post, Ahmed Fahour, saying recently that online shopping in Australia was set to grow at an annual rate of 12.5 per cent for the next five years.

Watermelon Red’s local owner and popular interior stylist, Briana Forster has launched the site in response to ongoing requests from customers for an online shopping facility and gift service, especially with Christmas being only days away.
“Our customers not only shop for themselves when they come to Watermelon Red, they love gift shopping for friends and family and our new on-line store makes it possible for people to browse our range and shop anytime and anywhere,” said Briana.

“Other than the great support we get from Coolum locals, many of our customers are regular visitors to Coolum from Brisbane and interstate and we’re always asked if we’re opening additional stores closer to home. It’s great to have such positive feedback and we are confident the online store will be successful in meeting this demand as well as the increased demand for online shopping in general.”

The online range includes homewares, fragrances, jewellery, outdoor items, kids clothing and products, books and textiles and the team at Watermelon Red is confident there’s something for everyone.

To celebrate the launch, any items ordered in addition to the first will only attract $2 in additional postage costs.
