Local junior gymnasts compete in State Championships

Queensland’s young gymnasts are in the final stages of preparation for this weekend’s Gymnastics Queensland Junior State Championships which will see around 710 of the state’s best young gymnasts compete at the Sleeman Sports Complex Arena in South Brisbane from June 21-25.
Competitors will come from across the state from 45 clubs and the gymnasts, aged between 8 and 15 will participate in the men’s and women’s disciplines of Artistic Gymnastics across various divisions.
Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Director says the five-day event is a great opportunity for the young up-and-coming gymnasts to compete against one another showcasing the best young talent from across the state.
“Young gymnasts will have been training for this event for the past 12 months in the hope of being recognised as one of the best in the state so this event really is a culmination of a great deal of hard work for these young competitors,” said Ms Dowdell.
“This is a chance to see the stars of the future in action and provides our young gymnasts with the opportunity to learn from one another and gain valuable competition experience. We are looking forward to a great event and wish the competitors all the best in their final preparations.”
