Local gymnasts in State Championships

June 20, 2012

Local gymnastics clubs are gearing up for this weekend’s Gymnastics Queensland Junior State Championships which will see 570 of the state’s best young gymnasts compete at the Sleeman Sports Complex Arena in South Brisbane from June 22-25.

The line-up includes gymnasts from 48 Queensland clubs participating in the men’s and women’s disciplines of Artistic Gymnastics across various divisions.

Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Director says the four-day event is a great opportunity for the young up-and-coming gymnasts to compete against one another showcasing the best young talent from across the state.

“Young gymnasts will have been training for this event for the past 12 months in the hope of being recognised as one of the best in the state so there is always a very impressive level of gymnastics on display,” said Ms Dowdell.

“This is a chance to see the stars of the future in action and provides our young gymnasts with the opportunity to learn from one another and gain valuable competition experience. We are looking forward to a great event and wish the competitors all the best in their final preparations.”
