Local Gymnasts Go for Gold

April 10, 2012

2012 GYMNASTICS QUEENSLAND SENIOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS & STATE TRIAL

Gymnasts across Queensland are preparing for the highly competitive Senior State Championships and State Trial events which will see over 200 of the state’s best gymnasts battle it out at the Sleeman Sports Complex Arena in Chandler from April 21-22.

The line-up includes 33 gymnasts from Brisbane Grammar School Gymnastics Club, Spring Hill Gymnastics and Delta Gymnastics Brisbane competing in the men’s and women’s disciplines for a place on the podium, as well as selection for the Queensland Nationals team who will compete in Sydney in June.

Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Director said the two-day event will be an exceptional showcase of the state’s most elite gymnasts and encourages spectators to come along to support their local competitors.

“Events such as these enable gymnasts from Brisbane Grammar School Gymnastics Club, Spring Hill Gymnastics and Delta Gymnastics Brisbane to not only compete for the coveted State titles, but also to vie for a place in the State Team which is a real achievement for any gymnast,” said Kym.

“We have an exceptionally high calibre of gymnasts in Queensland at the moment including gymnasts who will compete at the London Olympics later this year, so it promises to be a great event.”

The premier session will be from 5.30-8.30pm on Sunday, April 22 where spectators can see Queensland’s potential Olympians compete.   For further details on this event, please visit www.gymqld.org.au
