2019 Gymnastics Queensland Junior Regional Championships (Brisbane South)

The community is being encouraged to show their support to more than 370 gymnasts from across the region, who have less than a week to perfect their routines for the 2019 Brisbane South Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Junior Regional Championships.

The event – to be held at Somerville House School on 10 and 11 August – will give local athletes a chance to qualify for the State Championships being held in Brisbane in September and an opportunity to claim a spot in the Brisbane South Regional Team.

Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer Kym Dowdell, said the event would be a two-day showcase of 378 local talent from ten clubs.

“The athletes will demonstrate their strength, flexibility and artistry as they compete in the apparatus which includes the vault, bars, beam and floor,” Ms Dowdell said.

“This will be a challenging event for the athletes who are determined to secure a spot in the State Championships next month.

“I can imagine they have been finessing their performances and are eager to compete for a podium finish.”

Ms Dowdell said this is a great opportunity for the community to get behind these athletes.

“This is quite an impressive showcase and with children’s entry costing just $3, it can make for an entertaining day out for spectators.”

The event will be held at Somerville House School, 4 Stephens Road, South Brisbane. For further details, please visit www.gymqld.org.au or call 3036 5607.
