It’s raining lingerie girls

April 24, 2011

While many were spending the day looking for Easter eggs, spectators at Skysisters 2011’s eyes were diverted upwards as it rained girls in lingerie over Toogoolawah, Queensland this Easter Sunday.

As part of Skysisters 2011, the girls were up in the air for the Lady Bird lingerie jump and they certainly caused a stir on the ground. The lingerie, courtesy of Lady Bird Lingerie Noosa & Gympie, came in all colours and styles and the Drop Zone came to a standstill as the girls made their way to the plane.

Skysister 2011 organiser, Susie McLachlan, said the jump was what Skysisters was all about with the girls getting together to celebrate the female form, to push their boundaries, have some fun and attempt to break some records along the way.

“Skysisters is all about a group of girls of all ages getting together to inspire and motivate each other and we’ve come up with a fantastic selection of themed jumps throughout the nine-day program to keep it fun and action-packed,” said Susie.

“We’re having a blast and having so many girls together gives us a fantastic opportunity to attempt some all-female records and to take some new recruits into the air. Skysisters is a great opportunity to come and have a go and try skydiving for yourself. Yesterday we had a 3-generation jump which was amazing so you can even bring your nana and have a try!”

The record attempts are expected to take place in the next few days when the girls have had a chance to practice.

The event, which is free and open to the public, has also attracted an impressive list of attendees from within the skydiving fraternity including Kate Cooper-Jensen from California who has completed over 9,500 jumps and holds 14 world records and cinematographer, Norman Kent who is responsible for filming the skydiving scenes in movies like Terminal Velocity, Point Break and Get Smart.

Dates and times of jumps will be weather-dependent but regular updates will be posted on the Skysisters Facebook page at www.facebook.com/skysisters.

Ends.
