House Rules stars jet into Coast for Radio Rentals launch

August 15, 2014

Radio Rentals is popping the cork, laying out the red carpet and jetting in Channel Seven ‘House Rules’ celebrities Maddi and Lloyd to celebrate being on the Sunshine Coast for just over 15 years and relocating to the recently refurbished Kawana Shopping World.

The Radio Rentals Kawana team will host the grand opening on Wednesday August 20 with the popular TV personalities, free giveaways and the chance to win a lucky door prize of a new Thorn Smartphone and two Gold Class movie tickets.

Radio Rentals National Marketing Manager, Gillian Watson said the company had been operating as Australia’s largest household goods rental company for over 76 years and has gone from strength to strength as Australians move towards renting as an affordable option to keep up with the latest technology.

“We’ve seen some massive changes since the doors first opened in 1937. From the radiogram to black and white television, then colour television, VCRs and DVD players to the current digital age with smartphones, tablets and state-of-the-art audio,” Ms Watson said.

“With the popularity of home improvement shows such as House Rules, we’re inspired to makeover our homes with the latest of furniture, whitegoods and the sought after media room and we are able to offer this all for an affordable weekly price.”

Long time Radio Rentals employee and Kawana Store Manager, Stephen Bird is excited about the expansion into the shopping centre and about welcoming Maddi and Lloyd into the store to share renovating and styling tips as well as to see how well they match up on an Xbox challenge.

“Maddi and Lloyd are hot property given they had such a following on the show so we’re lucky to have them join us in the store to meet our customers and share some of their experiences with us,” Mr Bird said.

The couple will offer a wealth of knowledge when it comes to styling, making smart decisions on household goods and the latest trends in renovating.

“Our customer base varies from those setting up their first home or furnishing rental properties to those looking for advice on how to select furnishings and integrate appliances into the modern home, so any tips they offer will be well received.”

“A number of our customers also just love having access to the latest technology so we encourage people to come down and have a look at what we can offer.”

“There are also those who simply need a one-off item such as families looking for an extra fridge over the Christmas period – it’s all possible at Radio Rentals and we’re happy to help.”

The new flagship store, which is one of 90 Radio Rental stores nationally, is located opposite Aldi at Kawana Shoppingworld and offers an extensive range of electrical and household products including flat panel TVs, smartphones, PCs, whitegoods such as fridges and washing machines, computers, gym equipment and furniture including lounge, dining and bedroom.

“The store looks fantastic and the team are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our Grand Opening from 9am on Wednesday August 20,” Mr Bird said.
