High-flying ‘acro’ gymnasts to compete in State Champs

August 16, 2011

Following on from the recent Nationals and Queensland Cup championships in July, acrobatic gymnasts from across Queensland will battle it out at Ormiston College in Brisbane on 27 – 28 August in the Gymnastics Queensland Acrobatics State Championships.

Acrobatic gymnastics (or ‘acro’ as it is known) is a beautiful, dynamic and spectacular sport to watch. Sports acro is a partner sport (couples, trios and quads) combining strength, flexibility and the technical precision of gymnastics as well as the grace and musical flow of dance.

“These talented gymnasts will have a chance to compete against their counterparts from clubs across Queensland and the competition promises to be tough this year,” said Ms Dowdell.

“These events provide an excellent opportunity for those interested in acro gymnastics to come along and see some of our finest competitors perform in this incredible sport. It’s also a great opportunity support our local clubs and competitors.”
