Gymnasts to soar in state tramp champs

April 5, 2012

Gymnasts from across Queensland will bounce it out at Ormiston College in Brisbane from 14-15 April in the Gymnastics Queensland Trampoline State Open and Age Championships.

129 gymnasts representing 8 clubs will compete against the best in the state vying for a place in the Queensland team to compete in the National Championships.

Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer says the two-day event is always popular with spectators.

“The impressive display of gymnasts performing acrobatics as they bounce on a trampoline is always a crowd-pleaser especially when they do routines including complex combinations of forward or backward somersaults and twists,” said Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer.

“It’s the love of the trampoline that gets many young kids involved in gymnastics in the first place and to see what these young men and women can do is truly inspirational for those thinking of getting involved in the sport.”

“These talented gymnasts will have a chance to compete against their counterparts from clubs across Queensland and the competition promises to be tough this year.”

The event will be held at Somerset Centre, Ormiston College in Ormiston and tickets will be available at the door. For further details on this event, please visit www.gymqld.org.au or call 3036 5607.

Ends.
