Gymnasts prepare to bounce it out at State Age Champs

April 22, 2013

Gymnasts from across Queensland are set to soar at Ormiston College in Brisbane from 27-28 April in the Gymnastics Queensland Trampoline State Age and International Championships.

Over 120 gymnasts representing eight clubs from across the State will compete in their bid to win their place in the Queensland team to compete in the National Championships to be held in Sydney in July.

Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer says the two-day event will see some of the best gymnasts Australia has to offer in action.

“Our Trampoline Sports events always prove popular with spectators thanks to the impressive routines these gymnasts perform including complex combinations of forward or backward somersaults and twists,” said Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer.

“It’s the love of the trampoline that gets many young kids involved in gymnastics in the first place and to see what these young men and women can do is truly inspirational for those thinking of getting involved in the sport.”

“These talented gymnasts will have a chance to compete against their counterparts from clubs across Queensland and the competition promises to be tough this year.”

The event will be held at Somerset Centre, Ormiston College in Ormiston and tickets will be available at the door. For further details on this event, please visit www.gymqld.org.au or call 3036 5607.
