Gymnastics QLD Awards recognise shining stars
January 17, 2012
Last Friday saw gymnastics clubs from across the state converge on Ormiston College Sports Hall of Fame in Brisbane to celebrate the 2011 Gymnastics Queensland Annual Awards. The awards dinner was designed to commend those clubs modelling best practice and to acknowledge those clubs and individuals who have made contributions to gymnastics in the past 12 months.
Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland’s Chief Executive Officer said the event was a great opportunity to recognise the shining stars within the sport.
“By applauding those clubs that set the benchmark we hope to encourage others to follow suit and therefore to continue to raise the bar of gymnastics across the State,” said Kym.
“Thomas Pichler and Joshua Jefferis who were recognised at the dinner both qualified for Australia’s single male spot for the Olympics last week and are testament to the impressive calibre of gymnasts we have in Queensland. These awards aim to celebrate our stars, both in the clubs division as well as those individuals who have gone above and beyond for the sport in 2011.”
The event was a roaring 20’s theme which saw guests from across Queensland celebrate into the night.
