Gymnastic Qld 2012 Annual Awards Results

Gymnastics clubs from across the state converged on The ‘Ship Inn’ at Southbank to celebrate the 2012 Gymnastics Queensland Annual Awards on Friday, January 11. It was a night to remember with guests being asked to celebrate gymnastics in fancy dress according to the event’s entertaining ‘circus’ theme.
The awards dinner is designed to commend those clubs modelling best practice and to acknowledge clubs and individuals who have made contributions to gymnastics in the past 12 months.

AWARD CATEGORIES – CRITERIA
1. Club Promotion Commendation
This award recognises up to 5 clubs who have demonstrated their ability in effectively promoting their club and its members during 2012. Areas to address in completing nominations should include but is not limited to:
· Internal – recognition of members & employees
· External – promotion of programs, members and employees
· Delivery methods – website & other electronic modes, print media & other forms of publicity, come and try days, competitions & other events etc.
· Member and customer satisfaction
2. Club Facility Development Commendation
This award recognises to up to 5 clubs who can illustrate facility development of their club during 2012. Areas to address in completing nominations should include but is not limited to:
· Additions/renovations to enhance club facility / functionality
· New club premises
· Benefits of changes
3. Staff Engagement & Mentoring Commendation
This award recognises up to 5 clubs who are able to verify and outline the processes undertaken to mentor and enhance staff commitment and skills in 2012. Areas to address in completing nominations should include but is not limited to:
· Leadership in the professional & personal development of staff
· Recruitment strategies for best fit – Staff engagement with club ethos
· How staff are rewarded and recognised
· Employee retention
· Work/life balance initiatives
4. Community Engagement Commendation
This award recognises up to 5 clubs who are able to illustrate a depth and quality of service delivery of gymnastic programs during 2012. Areas to address in completing nominations should include but is not limited to:
· Multi disciplined programs
· Multi ability programs
· Scholarship programs
· Provision of service/s for wider community
· Staff expertise, abilities and effectiveness in delivery
· Relationship building (participants, staff, parents, wider community)
5. Participation Commendation
This award will recognise those clubs who have shown a 25% increase in their registrations in participation in the disciplines of Kindergym and General Gymnastics from December 2011 to December 2012. Registrations will be taken from the GA Registration data base at 31 December 2012.
6. Community Grants Commendation
This award recognises up to 5 clubs who evidence and outline access to funding through a community grant in 2011 – 2012. Areas to address in completing nominations should include but is not limited to:
· What was the Grant, and who was it obtained through?
· How has your club utilised the funding?
· Who has benefited from the funding acquired?
· Did the funding achieve the desired outcome?
7. Competition Performance Commendation
This award recognises clubs who have exhibited notable achievements in the competitive stream of gymnastics during 2012. Areas to address in completing nominations should include but is not limited to:
· Discipline/s involved
· Competition achievements at State Championships
· Competition achievements at National Championships
· Competition achievements at National Club Events
· Competition achievements at International Events
· National Team Selection
8. Frank Vig Award (Artistic Gymnastics & Trampoline Sports)
This award honours an individual, who through their sporting achievements and personal qualities and characteristics, act as fine examples/role models for the sport in Queensland. Areas to address in completing nominations should include but is not limited to:
· Competitive achievements
· Exemplifying qualities
· Service to gymnastics – coach, judge, administrator, volunteer
9. Gymnastics Queensland Service and Achievement Awards
At the Annual Awards, Gymnastics Queensland will also acknowledge and honour clubs and individuals with various Service and Achievement Awards. These include the following:
· Recognition of clubs that have upgraded to Star 3 and 4 of the Club 10 Quality Assurance Program during 2012;
· Individual Service Awards;
· Host Clubs Service Awards
These awards are selected by the Queensland Gymnastics Association
