Gladstone to host Gymnastics Championship

Gymnasts from across the region will converge on Gladstone this weekend to compete in the 2014 Women’s Gymnastics Central Queensland Senior Regional Championships at the Gladstone Gymnastics Club on Saturday, 22 March.
The event this weekend will see almost 20 senior gymnasts from four clubs compete on apparatus such as the vault, beam and uneven bars as well as completing floor routines to demonstrate a series of tumbles and other strength and flexibility displays.
Kym Dowdell, Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Director, said organisers were looking forward to seeing a high calibre of the gymnasts in action over the event and encouraged those with an interest in gymnastics to attend.
“Gymnastics is a great spectator sport and these events always prove popular with families who either have an interest in the sport or who have young children thinking about getting involved,” said Ms Dowdell.
“The Gymnastics Queensland Regional Championship events provide a wonderful opportunity for the community to support local gymnasts who will compete against the best in the region. We wish all our gymnasts the best of luck and look forward to a great championship.”
