Everything’s up to date

‘Everything’s up to date’

April 20, 2011

This song, from the musical ‘Oklahoma’ is one of the lively tunes which will be featured at a not-to-be-missed concert by the Sunshine Coast Concert Band on Sunday, May 22 at 2pm in the Nambour Uniting Church, Nambour. The 40-piece band, under the baton of Music Director Ken Chadwick, will perform a wide variety of musical styles, ranging from Tchaikovsky to Beatles and Buddy Holly tunes, with a few marches along the way.

Of special appeal will be an item of ‘The Bugler’s Holiday’ played at an incredibly fast pace by the Wynyard family of Todd, Angelique and their 14-year-old son, Josh. An essential ingredient of any SCCB programme is a Dixie Group item, this time by Charlie Simm, Todd Wynyard, Keith Dowsett and Laura Thomas performing ‘Who’s Sorry now’ and also some Big Band tunes of Glenn Miller.

The wonderful swing singer Tanya McFadyen will sing ‘Cabaret’, ‘Summertime’ and will also get ‘into gear’ with Bev Gourlay to perform an ABBA Medley as well as the Whitney Houston hit ‘The Greatest Love of All’. Aart Schouten will sing the well loved song ‘The Holy City’ as well as that other crowd pleaser, ‘Everything’s up to date in Kansas City’.

Admission at the door is $15 which includes the home-baked afternoon tea supplied by the Sunshine Coast Community Hospice team, who will benefit from all the proceeds of this concert. Since seats are limited, it is advisable to book with the Hospice office on 5479 0881, and tickets will be kept for you at the door.

Please come and support this community band and charity, and also enjoy yourself in the comfort of the Nambour Uniting Church, 37 Coronation Avenue, at 2pm on Sunday May 22.

Ends.
