Estia Health has reached the final stages of construction of their new $40 million, 126-bed aged care home, located close to Maroochydore’s town centre and is set to open its doors on 26 August for residents seeking permanent or short-term respite aged care services.

The new Estia Health Maroochydore home will join the three existing Estia homes at Twin Waters, Mount Coolum and Nambour in the Sunshine Coast region, expanding Estia’s network to eight aged care homes in Queensland and 69 homes nationally.

The home’s Executive Director, Suzanne Hoey has been busy putting the finishing touches on the new state-of-the-art home, as well as recruiting an initial 30 aged care and hospitality staff for when the first residents begin moving in.

“Although we will eventually build our team to approximately 150 employees we are currently focused on securing team members who will be caring for the first residents,” said Ms Hoey.

“This includes recruiting an experienced team of Registered Nurses, who will be onsite 24/7 and led by the home’s Care Director.”

“Being a Registered Nurse myself and having worked in the aged care industry for over 20 years, I know how important this clinical team is, and we are taking the time to make sure we have the right mix of dedicated and compassionate carers that share Estia’s values.”

This is the fifth home that Ms Hoey has opened and with this experience comes a confidence in delivering personalised care that is centred around each resident.

“I truly believe that our residents must be central to everything we do – it is the reason we all love and work in aged care,” said Ms Hoey.

Estia Health’s CEO Ian Thorley is excited about the home’s imminent opening and said the new Maroochydore team are looking forward to welcoming residents in August.

“At Estia Health, we believe in an extended family approach where we all work together to help our residents settle in to their new home. This means our experienced clinical care team, will work closely with our hospitality and lifestyle teams to provide tailored experiences that best suit each resident’s needs,” said Mr Thorley.

“We feel privileged to play such an important role in the local healthcare network, and to be able to offer these important services to the local community, whether it’s a short-term respite stay, or on a permanent basis.”

The home itself is set over two stories and boasts a modern hairdressing salon, in-house cinema, private dining room and its own café. Other highlights include daily lifestyle activities, consultation rooms for visiting health professionals and a well-equipped kitchen with a qualified chef and catering team serving freshly cooked and nutritious meals.

Estia Health Maroochydore will also address the demand for people living with dementia by providing an 18-bed memory support unit to deliver a safe and supportive environment.

Estia Maroochydore is located in the relaxed setting of Sunshine Cove, just a short distance from Maroochydore’s town centre. Close proximity to Sunshine Plaza and the coastline offers the opportunity for convenient day outings with loved ones.
