Endeavour Foundation and Creek Tavern team up for charity

On Saturday 19th October the Creek Tavern is teaming up with the Endeavour Foundation for their annual Great Wine Challenge, bringing Sunny Coasters together for an afternoon of wine, beer, food and all for a great cause.

Kicking off at 1pm and running until late the event showcases wines from around the world while raising much needed funds for our local community.

Owner-managers, Sam Tomich and Paul Sawczuk are looking forward to a big day with a great line up of live entertainment, over 100 wines to sample and the added benefit of raising funds and awareness for the Endeavour Foundation.

“We are excited to be teaming up with this national charity, helping them achieve their goal to support people with disabilities and provide opportunities to live an ordinary life,” said Mr Tomich.

The Endeavour Foundation provides support to more than 3,350 disabled people across Queensland and Western Sydney. Founded in 1951, it is one of the largest and oldest charities and is now one of the leading disability and support services in Australia.

Heather Christie a local who supports the Endeavour Foundation by raising funds & awareness said all proceeds raised on the day will remain here on the Sunshine Coast helping to build two homes in Pelican Waters for eight Endeavour clients and their carers.

“The support we get from donations, events, sponsors, volunteers and corporate partners is invaluable. Without all this, Endeavour Foundation would not be able to provide the support and opportunities to those in need,” said Ms Christie.

Ms Christie participates in the Great Endeavour Rally which raised $280,000 in 2013. The 2014 rally is on 12-19 July, travelling from Warwick to Bundaberg via Corner Country. As a local at the Creek Tavern for many years, Ms Christie is pleased to be working alongside a business that is so passionate about supporting its local community.

“The Creek Tavern is a great venue and they do a lot to support their local community,” said Ms Christie.

“We know that a number of the Endeavour Foundation members are regulars here at Creek Tavern so it’s great to know that we can give back to the Foundation, showing our thanks for the tireless work they do in our community,” said Mr Tomich.

The Great Wine Challenge will showcase wines from Australia and abroad plus James Squire craft beer tastings. Local talent Michelle Brown will perform from 1.30pm in the marquee followed by soloist Olivia Ruth from 5pm in the bistro.

Mr Tomich whose South Australian family vineyard, Tomich Wines will be showcased on the day is excited to have the event on a Saturday this year instead of a Sunday.

“Having the event on a Saturday will hopefully encourage people to make a day of it, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and they can even make use of the courtesy bus to get a lift home if they live less than a 5km radius of the Tavern,” said Mr Tomich.

Some of the wine suppliers being showcased on the day include Tomich Wines, Domain Wine Shippers, Treasury Estate, The Wine Company, Macro Winter Fine Wines as well as James Squire craft beers 150 Lashes, Chancer, Nine Tales and Porter.

Pre-sale tickets are just $20 or $25 on the day and can be purchased from the Creek Tavern or by phoning 5478 1333.

Ends.
