Ecoflicks entries now open

The Ecoflicks Sunshine Coast Environment Film Festival is open for entries and organisers are calling for Sunshine Coast amateur film makers to get creative and submit a short film that inspires environmental stewardship by May 17.
Following the success of Ecoflicks 2010 which encouraged film makers of all ages and experience to have a go and saw nine-year-old Aliyah Royer take home two awards, this year promises to be even bigger and broader in its appeal.
Winning entries in the six award categories will be screened at the World Environment Day Festival at the University of the Sunshine Coast on June 5 and will be re-screened at selected locations across the Coast across the month of ‘Green June’.
Maree Prior, a representative from the Noosa Integrated Catchment Association who host the event, believes the festival gives people the opportunity to showcase their talents and to captivate members of the public with their messages.
“Ecoflicks is important for two key reasons, it aims to promote and encourage amateur film makers and nurture the film making industry on the Coast while it also conveys the very important message of how we can better protect our natural environment,” said Ms Prior.
“The categories we offer ensure that everyone with a passion for film can have a go at submitting an entry and has the opportunity to take home an award.”
This year’s six categories are Best Film, Best Student Film (under 18s), Most Inspirational Film, Best Teamwork Award, Technical Achievement Award and the People’s Choice Award.
Those interested can register by completing Part B of the Ecoflick registration form on the NICA website at www.noosariver.com.au. Entries must then be submitted in a format readily playable on a DVD player and should be no more than seven minutes long. Each entrant may submit up to three entries and should submit two copies of each entry on DVD to the NICA office, PO Box 172, Tewantin, QLD, 4565 by close of business on May 17.
