Digital panel to place business owners on cloud nine

May 22, 2014

Five of Australia’s leading digital business experts will take to the stage at the Sunshine Coast Business Expo next week, providing local business owners and operators with valuable insight into harnessing new digital and cloud technologies.

Sunshine Coast Business Expo Chair Ross Hepworth said the Digital ‘Business Leaders’ Panel would be instrumental in demonstrating how digital technologies can be used within the workplace to improve business productivity and sustainability.

“The digital technology sector has experienced significant growth in recent years, with the value of the cloud computing industry alone expected to increase to over $210 billion by 2015 — a rise of more than 450 per cent since 2009*,” Mr Hepworth said.

“It’s important that local businesses don’t get left behind, so the panel will explore a range of digital technology options that have the potential to greatly enhance the performance of Sunshine Coast businesses.”

“It will cover everything from setting up the right IT model for your business and eliminating unnecessary software and hardware, right through to navigating the new skills marketplace revolution and improving digital security.”

Mr Hepworth said he was thrilled to be welcoming CareerOne CEO and former Yahoo!7 Digital Media Executive Karen Lawson to the panel, as well as Melbourne-based Jordan King, Business Development Manager for cloud-based software company Vend; Sydney’s Rehan Wickremeratne, Solutions Architect at Unleashed Software; and the Sunshine Coast’s own Greg Tuckwell, Director The Poole Group and Xero Accounting Partner of the Year.

“The calibre of these businesspeople is simply outstanding and I am confident their substantial knowledge and experience in the digital technology sector will inspire and benefit a range of Sunshine Coast businesses,” Mr Hepworth said.

“Between them, they possess substantial knowledge of retail and point of sale, paperless workflows, digital workplace recruitment, accounting, inventory management and cloud integration.”

“We’re also excited to have Co-Founder of Rype Ideas and Cloud Advisor to the Broadband Today Alliance Tony Chadwick moderating the panel discussion. Tony brings more than 30 years of experience in technology leadership and innovation to the Expo, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of economics following his time as a national board director of Economic Development Australia and Chairman of Economic Development Queensland.”

Mr Chadwick said he looked forward to participating in the Digital ‘Business Leaders’ Panel and assisting Sunshine Coast business people to streamline their business processes.

“Tackling the digital technology realm can sometimes seem like a very daunting task, so this panel focuses on presenting information in a straightforward way that really resonates with small business owners,” Mr Chadwick said.

“The session will include case studies from a range of local businesses that have embraced digital technologies and are now reaping the benefits of paperless workflows and cloud computing.”

“These businesses are able to manage and review their sales, human resources, inventory management, cash flow and profit and loss from any device, anywhere, anytime.”

Mr Chadwick said attendees would also be provided with the opportunity to ask questions of panel members to assist them in applying the information presented to their workplace.

“The panel discussion presents a great opportunity for local business owners and operators to learn from the industry’s best and identify the right solutions for getting their business functioning at peak efficiency.”

The Digital ‘Business Leaders’ Panel will take place on Wednesday, 28 May at 10am in the Auditorium at TAFE Queensland East Coast (Mooloolaba campus). Admission is free.
