Construction of a much-anticipated, $25 million aged care home in Kogarah is now complete, with the building set to be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.

Estia Health CEO and Managing Director Norah Barlow said building had commenced on-site in April 2016, so she was thrilled to be celebrating this important milestone close to two years later.

“A lot of careful planning and heart has gone into creating this development, and we’re excited to be welcoming our first residents next month,” Mrs Barlow said.

“The new home incorporates 69 ensuite rooms, some with stunning city and district views, as well as an in-house hairdressing salon and a cinema, so we trust our residents will be very happy here.”

Mrs Barlow said with the carpet having just been laid and soft furnishings in place, Estia Health was now focusing on stocking the home with furniture.

“We’re also working on outdoor landscaping, ensuring residents have access to welcoming and relaxing outdoor spaces.”

“These works should be complete around mid-March, ready for when our first residents transfer across from our existing Blakehurst home.”

Mrs Barlow said the project had contributed positively to the local economy, with more than 150 construction jobs having been created over the past 22 months.

“Where possible, we’ve used local workers and suppliers, and we’re really embracing being a part of the St. George community.”

Estia Health Kogarah is set to welcome its first residents on 20 March, with the remaining rooms expected to fill fast.

Executive Director Natalie Tighe said she was very much looking forward to the opening of the home.

“We have had a lot of interest in this new building already, and we are excited to finally be able to show people all that this modern care home has to offer.”

Estia Health is one of the largest residential aged care providers in Australia with 69 homes nationwide. The company operates 11 homes in the Sydney area alone, including two locally at Bexley and Bankstown.
