Coast newcomers to exhibit at Expo

May 5, 2011

In a recent wedding survey conducted by the It’s My Wedding Expos, the right venue was a top priority for over 80 per cent of respondents which has couples scouring the Sunshine Coast for new and innovative wedding locations.

Expo event organiser, Dee Collins believes venues on the Coast have a great opportunity to market specifically to brides and welcomes the newly launched Anna Bella Chapel in Ilkley which is focussing on ceremonies in an idyllic location.

“Now more than ever, brides and their groom’s want to express their personalities and come up with distinctive ideas and a chapel venue gives them the opportunity to add some special touches to their day, said Dee.

“It’s not so much about the big ‘super wedding’. If a small and stylish ceremony venue in beautiful garden surroundings is the theme of your wedding, Anna Bella Chapel provides a stunning new, purpose-built chapel nestled in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.”

The light-filled chapel has been six years in the making and is designed to give couples and their guests a sense of quiet and calm. Featuring French provincial wrought iron doors and gates, century old church pews from an old Ipswich church and set in a tranquil, rural setting, the chapel offers a picture postcard backdrop for ceremonies and wedding photos.

Ms Collins says the It’s My Wedding expos feature an incredible selection of talented and exclusive exhibitors such as the new wedding supplier on the Sunshine Coast, Away with the Faeries.

For brides seeking the custom-designed, dream wedding dress, Away with the Faeries is the creation of textile designer Nicki Hearn who specialises in bespoke dresses for brides, mother of the brides, bridesmaids and flowergirls.

“With her first experience on a sewing machine at the age of five, Nicki is an incredibly creative dressmaker who specialises in beautiful made-to-measure garments. Whether you wish to create your own design or you have torn a page from the latest bridal magazine, Nicki will help make your dream wedding dress a reality,” said Dee.

Following a six-week trip around Australia from the UK with all six members of her family in a campervan, Nicki and her family moved to the Sunshine Coast to pursue their dream of living in Australia. Part of that dream was Nicki starting Away with the Faeries, meaning in her words “the chance to daydream and imagine the most beautiful fabrics created in your dream dress”.

Expecting record numbers at their Expos following the royal nuptials, the first It’s My Wedding expo is coming up on Sunday, May 22 where brides from across the Sunshine Coast can gather with grooms, girlfriends and family to meet with wedding suppliers in order to plan their own unforgettable day.

Reception venues, bridal boutiques, cake decorators, musicians, travel companies, celebrants, photographers, wedding planners and more will be on display to assist wedding couples through the planning process.

The expo, being held at the Maroochy RSL Events Centre, Memorial Avenue, Maroochydore on Sunday, May 22 from 10am-4pm will feature fashion parades at 11.30am and 2.30pm and other door and spot prizes.
