Celebration of all things gardening at Qld Garden Expo

April 19, 2016

What do you get when you combine more than 35,000 gardening enthusiasts, 360-plus exhibitors, eight live stages, celebrity speakers and guests, landscape garden displays, food courts and entertainers?

Australia’s largest sub-tropical gardening event; the 2016 Queensland Garden Expo!

Queensland Garden Expo Event Manager Marion Beazley said this year’s Expo — being held between 8-10 July — was set to be a crowd pleaser once again, with green thumbs, gardening novices and horticultural experts from across Australia and New Zealand converging on the Nambour Showgrounds seeking advice, information and inspiration.

“People of all ages and skill levels flock to the Expo and it’s not only to stock up on plants,” Ms Beazley said.

“Great food, entertainment and a range of free children’s activities including street performers, musicians, the children’s playground and animal farm coupled with the multitude of food stalls and special interest activities all combine to make the Expo a great day or weekend out for the whole family.”

An extensive lecture and demonstration program, beautifully crafted landscape display gardens, hundreds of diverse and interesting exhibits — including 55 nurseries, selling over 40,000 plants a day — a giant kitchen garden which incorporates a totally organic food court and a ‘Gardeners and Gourmets’ cooking stage are just a few of the things visitors can enjoy at this year’s Expo.

“We’re looking forward to another great year and are really pleased to be able to present to Queensland gardeners a range of high profile speakers including Gardening Australia favourites Costa Georgiadis and Jerry Coleby-Williams, as well as renowned Better Homes & Gardens presenter Graham Ross, ABC Radio host Annette McFarlane, garden guru Phil Dudman and horticultural experts Claire Bickle and Noel Burdette to name just a few.”

“The Expo also caters to every gardening need, whether you have a few pot plants, acreage or anything in between.  The event provides access to the latest in gardening equipment and accessories as well as the much-anticipated release of new plant varieties which has people queuing down the road on the opening day.”

“This year we will continue to focus on making the Expo more sustainable and looking at how we can recycle much of what we use.  Everyone with a disposable coffee cup will be encouraged to claim a handful of soil and free plant to make good use of the paper cups.”

“It’s about engaging visitors, getting them excited about gardening and creating a fun environment for a great family day out.”

The Queensland Garden Expo is held at the Nambour Showgrounds, Coronation Avenue, Nambour on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.  For more information please visit www.qldgardenexpo.com.au.
